The Furever Forest
Where love for your soulmate pet lives on furever.
Hi there, I'm Paige Rechtman.
I'm a Licensed Psychotherapist, bereaved pet parent, and Founder of the Furever Forest.
And this here is my beloved soul-creature-kitty, Squiggles, who sadly passed away in June of 2023 and is the inspiration for this community.
If you have found yourself here, I am SO very sorry for your loss.
Saying goodbye to a pet is one of the most devastating life experiences you can go through. And it takes a lot of time to process the loss.
Sadly many people in our world don't acknowledge the loss of an animal as significant. They expect you to move on quickly, or not be sad at all.
However, I have learned that there are in fact quite a lot of people out there who get it.
And I have been shocked by how healing it is to connect with strangers on the internet who understand the depth of a very special, one-of-a-kind, human-animal bond. Because they have had one too.
I would be so honored if you choose the Furever Forest as part of your healing journey. Here, the memories you have with your beloved soulmate pet will live on furever.
If your pet has passed away, and you:
- feel like you have nowhere to go to talk about your pet and be supported
- are grief-stricken, struggling to function, or have tearful outbursts when thinking about your pet
- feel like you shouldn’t be as sad as you are and worried the pain will never ease
- are struggling to adjust to your new routine or function like usual without your pet by your side
- still see your pet out of the corner of your eye, call out to them, or go to feed them before realizing they aren’t there
- feel completely lost and without any sense of purpose without them
- can't find the time to let yourself grieve
The Furever Forest offers a safe space for you to heal from the loss of your pet.
Some kind words from our Members:
"After 13 years, I lost my best friend, and doggy soul mate. After trying to do it alone, I decided to join the Furever Forest. My life changed again. I shared Koda’s and my story; the group’s outpouring of love and support was what I needed. Paige, thank you for this group. It has been there when I need it. No judgment; shared stories, crying, hugs and continued support. I don’t know how I would be doing without our community. Sending love and peace to all on this site and the Furever Forest."
- Mark F., Honoring Koda
"When you are hurting and distraught from pet loss, you tend to desperately look for support from like minded people. Paige encourages us to share our thoughts on many different levels. Not just our grief but happy memories, reflection and things we have learned along the way. She also encourages us to post pics of our beloved animal companions which for me, was like honoring Luke every time and that was powerful. I truly believe this has played a part in my healing. There's so much good information available to us. I specifically have enjoyed the live sessions when we can gather and discuss issues regarding grief and healing."
- Jennifer P., Honoring Luke
